William Murphy Family

Mr. and Mrs. William Murphy lived in Saline Township. They had six children: Clifford, Eileen, Bernice, William Jr., Agnes, and Jimmy.

Mrs. Murphy died after Jimmy was born, so Mr. Murphy had to work very hard to care for the children and the farm, except for Jimmy. Mrs. Earl Woodall took care of Jimmy until Mr. Murphy's relatives took him to Minneapolis, where he remained until he was old enough to start school. The children attended school in Kottke Valley Township.

The Murphy family remained on the farm until Mr. Murphy became State Dairy Commissioner, after which they moved to Bismarck, where he remarried, and had another child, whose name was Mary. Mr. Murphy died in Bismarck.
