Elizabeth Boutilier Robinson

Elizabeth (Bessie) A. Boutilier was born on June 11, 1879 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania to Mr. and Mrs. John Peter Boutilier. She moved with her parents to Britt, Iowa in 1882, and then to Granville, North Dakota in 1900.

On October 30, 1902, she married Charles W. Robinson, who was a native of Britt, Iowa.

Bessie taught school in Granville Township, as well as for the Granville City School, before she and her husband moved to Plentywood, Montana in 1909, where they farmed and ranched. In 1914, the bought land and ranched near Glendive, Montana.

In 1934, Mr. Robinson died. At this time, Bessie's brother, Thomas, who was a bachelor, came to live with her, and to help with the ranch and the coal mines. Mrs. Robinson taught school in Glendive for twenty-five years, retiring from teaching in 1949.

In the spring of 1950, she and her brother, Thomas Boutilier, moved back to Granville to live. Mrs. Robinson died at a Minot nursing home in 1972. Thomas Boutilier died at the home of his sister in 1957.
