Benjamin & Maude Moffatt

Known as Frank, Benjamin Franklin Moffatt was born on August 1, 1877, at Peoria, Illinois. He was the son of Alvah and Elizabeth Moffatt. He moved, with his parents, to Alta, Iowa, where he grew to adulthood.

In December of 1898, Frank married Maude E. Hills, and, in 1902, they moved to the Granville community and filed on a homestead in Egg Creek Township, McHenry County, North Dakota.

They were the parents of four children: Eva (Mrs. Stanton Covell), Alva, Donald, and Helen (Mrs. Erwin Pietz).

Maude passed away in June of 1922. In 1924, Frank remarried, taking Lois Gunn as his wife.

Frank was a fireman on the railroad for several years. He was a charter member of the Egg Creek Alfalfa Meade Club, Granville Lodge No. 3 A.C.U.W., and was affiliated with Ashlar Lodge No. 69 of the A.F. & A.M.

On December 24, 1940, on his way home from work, he was killed by a hit and run driver at Williston, where he had been working on the railroad.
